Apparently, the illustrations were reworked for this 1995 reissue, published by Price Stern Sloan. The colors are less vibrant, which is too bad. What's worse, the final image, of Serendipity looming over a would-be litterer in a rowboat, is missing entirely. (I bought the book so I could use that image in a presentation!)

If you need this book, get a used copy of printings from 1981 or earlier, from different printers.

Beautiful little book with a message about finding one's place in the world, and being kind to the environment. I highly recommend it for those with active "Inner Children" as well. Very therapeutic.
My daughter had this book and I bought it for my 4 yr old grandson. Might be a bit too early for a 4 yr old, but lovely message and cleverly presented.
I bought fours books of the series thinking mostly on my daughter, I thought my really boy 6y son (who likes Ricki Ricotta kind of books) wouldnt want to read them. I was so wrong!! We read two tonight and he is taking the other two to class tomorrow to share with everybody!!
I absolutely loved them.

I started buying up these old books after reading such glowing reviews of adults that remembered reading them as children. The stories are captivating to my kids. Even my 10 year old.

I actually bought several Serendipity books to send to my niece in Oregon. I'd read some of them as a child (and admittedly still read them occasionally now), but never this one (I don't think). I read it as soon as it arrived, and I have to say, it is wonderful. The Serendipity series is something that you should keep forever, and read every now and again. It really does explain, simplify, and drive home many things that even we as adults struggle to grasp.
